global delivery, local mentality

4th day at work and my whole department is away on training, leaving poor old me alone here in a new place alone. I'm suppose to finish a few session of my own training, but only difference is that my training is a webinar (seminar over the web) training. After 3 sessions, I need this theraphy.

Anyway, I'm settling in okay into work, there's a lot to learn and I mean a whole lot. I think if I actually manage to learn my new job role up, i could be the greatest hacker in the world. I also can see that some of my old working habits haven't died yet. Old working habits include updating your blog during office hours (I actually started my blog during office hours because I was sick of work), chatting online, etc etc. What I like best now is that I have my own little cubicle by the corner of the room, so I can sneak in a couple of power naps (another old working habits).

My new work colleagues are great, my senior (she hates to be called my boss) has been nothing but great. She really taken the trouble to get a lot of things ready for me and really helping me to assimilate into the working culture here. I realise that not only have I been reporting to lady bosses all my life, the lady bosses are getting younger and younger. First Isabel Yap was in her 40s, than came Indy who is 5 years older than me and now Even is only 2 years older than me. Next thing I know I'll be reporting to a lady boss same age as me and next thing I know I might end reporting another lady boss Isabel Yap who is 4 years younger than me. I should seriously consider writing a book entitled "Reporting to the Superior Gender by the less superior gender".

On a separate note, I had coffee with Juwita Suwito and Jacklyn Victor last night to finalise their Adelaide schedule and logistic. We were talking half-way, and was like getting serious to talking about the programmes and all of a sudden a malay lady walks to our table and ask "boleh ambik gambar". I was like "WHAT THE HECK!!!" not even a "sorry for interupting" or "maaf, yeah!!", I mean can't you see people are talking serious?? and not talking kok?? got papers on the table and all!!! I know I am sitting with a Malaysian celebrety, but if you die die want to take picture "WAIT LAR!!!". Piss me off only man, piss me off until I want to make curry puff I tell you. Okay lar, I wasn't pissed off lar, just wanted to make it sound dramatic. Yeah I was pissed... but stunt!!! I mean, I love Situ Nurhaliza, but once I saw her minum kopi with her friends, I didn't rush over and interupted "Siti, boleh ambik gamber?", I think her friends would ambik me man...!!!

I still haven't found a place to stay in Singapore.. anybody got any lubang?
