the week the girls didn't make it

Over the last 2 to 3 months, I've been following 2 reality shows very closely. Rockstar:Supernova and believe it or not Singapore Idol. 2 girls in particular that I've supported in this two reality, Dilana for Rockstar:Supernova and Jasmine Tye for Singapore Idol has lost out to the boys this week.

Dilana

The first time she burst onto stage on Rockstar:Supernova singing Lithium by Nirvana, I knew this chick was going to go all the way. I so confident that she'll win. A pure example of a rocker chick. Every song she touches, it turns into gold. Not anyone can turn a Cindy Lauper song into a sensation or take The Police Everybreath to another level. I was certain she was going to front Supernova.

But it was not to be, she went all the way to the top 2 and lost out to Billy Idol wannabe Lukas Rossi. The arrogant guy I learnt not to like from the start. It's no doubt that Lukas is good, in fact from the first episode, everyone knew the final 2 would be Lukas and Dilana but I was so confident that Dilana was going to win. I can't understand why she didn't win? I guess when it's down to fans voting, anything is possible. I just feel Dilana has a more overall tonal range, better control of her tones. But I guess the world is not ready to see a female fronting a band with Gilby Clarke, Jason Newstead and Tommy Lee.

Jasmine Tye

This girl the judges in Singapore Idol described as from a potato sack to a flower with a scent that smells like a wonderful jasmine. Well, yeah she started off bad but I got hooked to her because every week her performance just got better and better. I knew she wasn't going to win Singapore Idol but for her age, she knew how to stand her ground and there's a certain character about her that makes her stand out. She has been the last girl standing from the top 6 onwards. She managed to stand her own ground up till the top 3. Her rendition of My Valentine in the top 3 competition really made me want to be her valentine. I was quite certain she was going to make it to the top 2 and probably end up as runners up.

But at the top 3 competition. It was Jasmine Tye, Hardy Mirza and Jonathan Leong. Hady Mirza I like and I hope he wins, but Jonathan Leong over Jasmine Tye? I just don't understand why everyone including the judges like him so much? He's just a poser with a single tonal voice with no character. I feel he tries so hard to be somebody but the judges insist that he is one of the most original singer in the contest. I think most of his votes came from the girls who just likes his so called good looks. Hady Mirza, I hope you beat Ah Beng Leong.

Looks like it hasn't been a fair week for the girls.
