The above saying have been one that I've heard all my life and has at
times has come to pass for some. It's not happened to me, so I guess
that saying has been nothing but a "grandmother saying to me" until I
steped foot into Adelaide, Australia. I've always "kutuk" my dear
friend Hock on all his super fumbles, from totally misquoting a Bible
verse during alter call to calling people by their wrong names to even
fumbling when conducting communion during a service. Guess, I can't
wack him on those areas anymore as I've found myself doing those
fumbles right here in this foreign land. It's not too nice to conduct
this kind of fumbles especially when you're making new friends and
assimilating into a new environment. I've had my fair share of calling
people by their wrong names here and to top it off, I actually fumbled
when conducting communion for a church yesterday. I followed my bible
college principal (Ps. Greg Johnston) together with Kim a colleague in
Universe and Chris to a church down in Audinga. We were to take over
the service and Ps. Greg asked me to conduct the communion. I was very
nervous and I did a "tan hock seng". Told the congregation to "drink of
the bread and partake of the cup". Eye brows were raised wondering
what's this stupid asian talking about. At the end, the pastor of the
church prayed this prayer for me "grant boldness to this young man that
he may say the right things from you..." wonder what's that suppose to
mean. Anyhow, Ps. Greg was happy with the way I conducted the
communion, hope that spells extra marks for exams. So what goes around
does come around, just hope it's not the bad but also the good. This is
a pledge to Hock I'm putting here on this blog. I will still "kutuk"
you on your fumbles. I left my favourite jacket in the church. Totally
forgot about it and I'm quite sore about it.

It has been one hectic weekend starting from Friday. We had
"The Warehouse" on Frinday night. It was Universe's first big event for
the year. Some has asked me why call it "The Warehouse". It's suppose
to be a night where Ps. Adrian wasnts to share about what Universe is
and what's its vision for the year. So I was talking to my best friend
Hock about what would be good theme for the night and thus "the
warehouse" where it's a place where instead of gathering things, you
gather people to impart to them the vision and the direction Universe
is embarking on and a place to forge partnership. I would like to thank
all that helped out that night. Without everyone, the night wouldn't
have been a success. Special thanks to Ps. Narrelle, Vanessa, Kim and
Kelly. Without you girls, night would have been a flop.

Saturday was Zie's surprise birthday party. I was entrusted
with the chore of taking Zie out of the house. First plan was to take
Zie to Raymond's place to play LAN games, but that would set off a
spark. Than remembered Zie wanted a hair cut, and thus the plan
involved Lok Ing and Yenni. So plan was I take Zie out shopping for his
birthday present and take him to Yenni's to cut his hair but Zie of all
times had to invite Russell his engineering friend to the house to
study. Ian stole Zie's phone while he was watching TV to get Russell's
contact and Russell came into the plan by asking Zie to go to his house
to study instead, so it was still to plan, from study at Russell's to
the hair cut and at the end of the night, Zie was surprise. I just
wished he showed more girlie expression, that would have made all the
effort of waking up at 9am to go shopping and preparing the food and
telling him countless lies throughout our whole trip more worth it.
One other set-back I had on Sunday. Sheena was to perform in
Interactive Service, it's her first time doing an item in Church and so
really wanted to support her. It was Gender Agenda night where the guys
and the girls split for macho and girlie sessions. So in the end, Sheen
peformed to this girlie session only while us guys were thought how to
be wild. Was very disapointed not to catch Sheena as I heard flawless
review about her. Real proud of you Sheena... really wished we could
have caught you. This last three weeks spending time with you and the
girls have been fun and a time of really getting to know each other
better. Till the next term break.
Some pictures so that my blog doesn't seem so boring.
